The beach is located in the small town of Dillon Beach at the northern Marin County coastal border. Dillon Beach gets bigger waves rolling on shore than nearby Lawson Landing which has some protection from Tomales Point on Point Reyes Peninsula. For this reason surfers come here when conditions are right. When the tide is low and the surf is too, tide pool exploration is fun. The resort has a quaint little cafe and a general store and surf shop.
